Why do yellow-light glasses help pilots see more clearly?

Pilots sometimes wear glasses that transmit yellow
light and absorb light of most other colors. Why
does this help them see more clearly?

i think it has something to do with the sky being blue and blue and yellow being complementary colors but i would appreciate if someone could explain it to me properly

Why do we wear sun glass in summer? Pilots are closer to sun than people walking on ground. So just to avoid harmful/brutal sun ray they wear glass (especially for helicopter pilots).

The glasses used by pilot on helicopter or even people in spacecraft can wear any dark glasses to avoid sun rays, which affect vision. These glasses need not be exactly in yellow color. Some glasses are even coated by some metal (very thin layer) for extra protection.

For example, the manufacturer Rayban designed a sunglass for pilots and it is dark color.

sir, while you have been referring to the safety aspect, the question asks to deal with the aspect of "clear vision". Do "safety" and "clear vision" eventually refer to the same thing?
