Hi,

I am pretty new to this so I hope that someone can help me. I am trying to power a 10' strand of rope lights (example (http://www.amazon.com/Spacing-Christmas-Lighting-outdoor-lighting/dp/B001G6MNF2/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=furniture&qid=1256238590&sr=1-8)) for 3.5 to 4 hours. The lights are mounted on a box that is not near an electrical outlet. Is it possible to do without using something like a car battery? Also, I could put a switch on it so that the lights don't run continually. I'm not sure how to do this so I thought I would ask here for some help.

Thanks!

Do you know what voltage and current they need?

Hi vk6kro, I think the voltage is 120V. I don't know about the current. I might be able to find out but I'm not sure.

Maybe something like this would be simpler:

Edit: A couple of 6v lantern batteries should run 10ft of led rope lights for quite a while.
