My one sentence take is
The character, properties, behaviour, receptiveness of aspects of the universe interact and react to produce the process of the functional system that is our universe and as it is.
How would you summarize the universe?

Courtesy of Wikipedia:
The Universe comprises everything we perceive to physically exist, the entirety of space and time, all forms of matter and energy, and the physical laws and constants that govern them.

"everything we perceive to physically exist." The word "perceive" doesn't belong there. Whether or not we perceive something is irrelevant. The existence of things is independent of what anyone senses, knows or believes. The universe is everything that exists everywhere, whether or not anyone knows about them.

So this would be the definition that does not require Science necessarily?
