How is the force transfered from engine to wheels?

Hos is the force from a Otto engine (petrol engine) transfered from the engine to the wheels so that the car can move?

I would like a short sceintific description, thx :-)

engine turns shaft, shaft rotates in gearbox (transmission), transmission turns shaft, shaft turns differential (more gears) differential turns wheel shaft
for rear wheel drive anyway
