what are some good book on general circuit design? I know how to read schematics and the basics of electronic components (transformers, trnasistors, ect..). I want to learn how electronics work, so I can build projects myself instead of putting together canned ones.

hopefully you will be more civil than the engtips forums...they deleted my thread and my account for asking what some good books were

When I was in college we used Nilsson's 'Electric Circuits' as an introductory guide to circuit design. It's pretty comprehensive and I quite like the approach. Back then it was an earlier edition, the latest edition can be found here in Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0130770795/qid=1099745116/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/102-5527000-9709746.
