I was trying to figure out a difference between extract>run and unzip>install regarding a software I downloaded in a .zip folder, tried to download Winrar but I can't open https sites so I declined to 'jZIP'; unsatisfied, I uninstalled jZIP.
I was shocked when I started my browser: it loaded search.jzip.com; new tab still search.jzip.com. I cleared the address bar, input and address, as was loading search.jzip.com suddenly was in the address bar.
I disabled all plug-ins that seemed new, re-started but all to no avail!
Now my questions:
How can I get rid of jZIP?
Why can't I access any https site?
please help.

first do this
im assuming you are using internet explorer
on the menu bar, click Tools>Options
Then click on the advanced tab>click on the reset button at the bottom right side, it will ask you if you want to delete personal settings, check that box on and then click ok. Once that is done, close all the open windows so you are on your desktop, then restart internet explorer, try to browse to www.google.com

if that works, go here
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html

thats the website address for spybot-search and destroy, its one of the best antispyware programs available. download, install update and scan your computer with it, clean whatever it finds.

hopefully that fixes things for you.

Run Firefox in safemode without any add-ons. To do this, open Firefox. Then click on help then select restart with add-ons disabled. Then see if it works correctly. If it does, then you need to look at all the add-ons currently attached to Firefox and remove the ones you don't use. Also download spybot and scan tour computer with it.
