Hello!
What I'd like to ask is, whether there is a mathematical theory of consciousness in development or any promising serious research projects in describing conscious process mathematically or physically with sufficient mathematical background.
Erm, that's not really mathematics, you either want to look at philosophy which often deals with the discussion consciousness or biology and bio-mathematics where a lot of research has been done in to how the brain works.

There may be some applications of mathematics to such a study, but that is not the realm of mathematics itself. I would suggest that you look for such a study under Psychology.

you mean the mathematical biology of neural networks?
its called spiking neurons.
I was reading this yesterday,

("Quantum Cosmology and the Hard Problem of the Conscious Brain").
Interesting read.
