SUMMARY

This discussion focuses on measuring free energy (Gibbs free energy) and enthalpy of solutions. Participants emphasize the need for specificity regarding the equipment and procedures required for accurate measurements. The conversation highlights the importance of defining the context and parameters of the project to provide relevant recommendations.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of thermodynamics principles, particularly Gibbs free energy and enthalpy.
  • Familiarity with calorimetry techniques for measuring heat changes in chemical reactions.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment such as calorimeters and spectrophotometers.
  • Experience with solution preparation and handling in a laboratory setting.
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the use of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) for measuring enthalpy changes.
  • Explore the principles of Gibbs free energy calculations in chemical reactions.
  • Learn about the operation and applications of isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC).
  • Investigate the methods for preparing and analyzing solutions for thermodynamic measurements.
USEFUL FOR

Chemists, researchers in physical chemistry, and laboratory technicians involved in thermodynamic studies and measurements.

Hi everybody,
I'm working on a project aiming to determine what are the differents ways to measure the free energy (gibbs) and the enthalpy of solutions or any bodies.
And I have no idea.
If you know some equipment or some procedure to measure it, I would be very happy.

Thanks.

You're going to have to be more specific --- you've fenced in about a half mile of library sheves with your inquiry.
