The discussion revolves around troubleshooting issues with Mozilla Firefox following a PC fan repair. Participants explore potential solutions for the software not launching properly after the hardware fix.

Discussion Character

  • Technical explanation, Debate/contested, Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • One participant reports that their PC stopped functioning due to a non-working fan and, after replacing it, Mozilla Firefox only shows the splash screen without launching.
  • Another participant suggests that reinstalling the software might resolve the issue.
  • A participant indicates that reinstalling did not work and mentions attempts to delete a specific file related to Chrome without success.
  • Another suggestion involves uninstalling Firefox, removing the associated folder and registry keys, and then reinstalling the software.
  • A later reply notes success after deleting specific registry entries ("mozregistry" and "mozver") and reinstalling Firefox.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on the best solution, as multiple approaches are proposed and some methods are reported as ineffective.

Contextual Notes

Limitations include the specific operating system (Windows XP) being used, which may affect the applicability of certain solutions. There is also uncertainty regarding the effectiveness of registry modifications.

hi GREG
no reinstall does not work, i have tried deleting
the chrome rdf file but no joy
I'm using win XP and can't find any more
help.

Did you try to unistall it and remove the folder with all the settings. Also try going in the registry and manually removing the keys if there are any. Then try install it again.

magic, i had to delete "mozregistry" and "mozver", and
reinstall, thanks DDURADO.
