Functional groups of organic compounds

1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data
find the functional groups in the following compound:

2. Relevant equations
C8H16O4

3. The attempt at a solution
I know there is an ether but there is also something else. What is it? I have tried to find a group that is in the compound, but I have had no luck. It seems to be only some ethers, but webassign indicates that there is something else.

What do you consider to be functional groups? Ethers? OK! Take away the ethers and what else do you have?

Functional groups of organic compounds

Generally I consider the functional group to be just the atoms important to the structure. That would be C-O for ethers. What else is there for your example?
