SUMMARY

Light does not possess rest mass; however, it carries energy and momentum. Its interaction with gravity is a result of the curvature of spacetime created by mass. This phenomenon demonstrates that while light is fundamentally energy, it behaves as if it has mass when influenced by gravitational forces.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Einstein's theory of general relativity
  • Basic knowledge of the concepts of energy and momentum
  • Familiarity with the curvature of spacetime
  • Awareness of the distinction between rest mass and relativistic mass
NEXT STEPS
  • Research Einstein's general relativity and its implications on light and gravity
  • Explore the concept of momentum in the context of photons
  • Study the effects of gravitational lensing on light
  • Investigate the relationship between energy and mass in the context of E=mc²
USEFUL FOR

Physicists, students of physics, and anyone interested in the fundamental properties of light and its interaction with gravity.

i'm wondering something... does light have any mass?

Light has no rest mass. However, it has energy and is affected by gravity as if it had mass.

Light also has momnetum. Its affected by gravity due to the curvature of space time that masses produce.
