Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the hypothetical scenario of a train colliding with a wall, exploring the integrity of both the train and the wall. Participants share their opinions and anecdotes, with a focus on the implications of such a collision and the conditions under which it might occur.

Discussion Character

  • Debate/contested
  • Exploratory

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants assert that the train would win in a collision, questioning the structural integrity of the wall.
  • Others reference examples, such as a jet fighter crashing into a wall, suggesting that the wall can withstand significant impacts.
  • A participant humorously notes that in the UK, even minor obstacles like leaves on the track can stop trains, implying that the wall would likely prevail in such a context.
  • One participant speculates about the type of wall and the hypothetical builder, indicating uncertainty about the scenario's specifics.
  • Another participant compares the situation to a kamikaze plane versus a battleship, suggesting that there may not be a clear winner in such collisions.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express differing views on the outcome of the collision, with no consensus reached. Some believe the train would prevail, while others argue for the wall's superiority, indicating a lively debate without a definitive resolution.

Contextual Notes

The discussion includes humorous and speculative elements, with participants making light of the scenario and referencing cultural anecdotes, which may affect the seriousness of the technical arguments presented.

train vs wall question

Judging from the title alone, what is your reply to the thread?

I say train. I don't have much faith in the integrity of a wall built by someone who didn't even notice the train tracks.

Yep, train wins.

Ever see that footage of jet fighter vs. wall? They were testing walls for nuclear reactors to prevent people from flying planes into them.

Anyway. The wall won.

The wall will win if it is in the uk, even leaves on the track can stop our
trains.

If I'm the train, my response to the wall would probably be the same as the original poster, "sorry, won't do it again".

The wall might fall down. The train will definitely never run again.

Edit: I don't have much faith in the integrity of a train bought by a railroad complany that would run their track into a wall. Did they at least paint a tunnel onto the wall?

Edit: Of course, I don't actually know what kind of wall. Which little pig built this wall?

To be honest, I just thought "Bang." (Actually, I thought "who in the bloody hell would build a wall over a train track, and then I thought "bang"".) I don't reckon there'd be an outright winner any more than if a kamikazee plane sunk a battleship.
