Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around finding reputable institutes for specialization in Nanotechnology in India and the US. Participants share insights on available programs, particularly focusing on PhD opportunities and specific areas of research within the field.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Debate/contested
  • Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • One participant expresses a desire to specialize in Nanotechnology and requests information about institutes in India and the US.
  • Another participant mentions a friend in India pursuing a PhD on MOSFET device structures at IMEC, suggesting that the choice of institute may depend on specific research interests like metal gate high-k materials or carbon nanotubes.
  • A different participant reiterates the request for information on institutes, asking about the qualifications of the original poster.
  • Another participant states that there may not be MSc-level programs in Nanotechnology in India, but mentions that some institutes offer PhD programs, specifically citing IIT-Guwahati as having a PhD program in the field.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on the availability of MSc programs in Nanotechnology in India, with some suggesting that only PhD programs exist. There are multiple views on the specific institutes and areas of research that may be pursued.

Contextual Notes

Some claims about the availability of programs depend on specific areas of interest within Nanotechnology, and there may be limitations in the information provided regarding the scope of programs at various institutes.

I want to do a specialisation in Nanotechnology, so could you please tell me about some good institutes in India and US.

Physics news on Phys.org
I have a good frien from INDIA (electrical engineer) who is doing his phd on MOSFET device structures (MugFet's) here at IMEC [1]. It really depends on what exactly you want to do. I suggest you check out the possible phd topics here at IMEC. For example are you into metal gate high k-stuff, carbon nanotubes and CNT-transistors, reliability, ?

Feel free to PM-me if you want to know more.

regards
marlon

I don't think there is any institute in India offering a degree(MSc-level) in nanotech but there are few offering a PhD programme in nanotechnology(again depends on your area of interest because Nanotechnology is a very vast field  ).
IIT-Guwahati has a PhD programme I believe. Check out this link.
