Math Bachelor's, Masters and Phd's sequence for Math & Physics
I don't really have a favorite type. But for sure I don't like to deal with experiments >_<. For real, I don't know! Maybe I need help in how to search and what to search for.- ahmed markhoos

Math Bachelor's, Masters and Phd's sequence for Math & Physics
Okay, then I think the most appropriate degree for me is a Phd in Theoretical Physics, but in a field that is abstract mathematically!. What are the physics fields that deal with abstract math (not necessarily abstract physics!) ?- ahmed markhoos

Math Bachelor's, Masters and Phd's sequence for Math & Physics
I don't really see it as a tool. Hmmm, I might say that I am actually trying to study them together at the same time each for its own sake!- Should I instead apply for a mathematical physics degree "Another silly decision I think. Mathematical and theoretical physics degrees seems to be...- ahmed markhoos

Math Bachelor's, Masters and Phd's sequence for Math & Physics
Hello, It seems like mostly, the masters degree is skipped for those who are seeking a Phd degree (from Bachelor's to Phd directly). I'm in my fourth year as undergraduate, studying physics. I like both math and physics and I really want to master them both. The thing is that my university...- ahmed markhoos

Solid State Best solid state physics textbook that can replace Kittel
Hello I am having a really bad semester with solid state physics material, the book "introduction to solid state physics" by kittel is hard to follow and vague also it doesn't provide good explanations, always brief and fast. More than that my prof. is really good but have problems in...- ahmed markhoos

Graduate Solving First-Order PDE: Explaining Basics
I choosed it because it seemed to be the best pde book for me while studying physics. A lot of people gave a good feedback to it. Do you recommend any other books?- ahmed markhoos

Graduate Solving First-Order PDE: Explaining Basics
Sorry to keep the title too broad and general. I'm starting learning pde by myself , using "linear partial differential equations for scientists and engineers" I'm having some problems with the basics "I took ODE". The following differentiation is totally new to me, can some one explain to me...- ahmed markhoos

Finding rotation axis and angle, using eigenvalues
I'm frustrated now by your question ><. I know how to find eigenvalues and eigenvectors for 2×2 matrix with no doubt. Maybe I'm really not getting the idea of 3×3 matrices?! The book I read didn't point out clearly how to find the eigenvectors (of 3×3), just degeneracy in 3×3 matrices by...- ahmed markhoos

Finding rotation axis and angle, using eigenvalues
I did what you exactly said, but as you can see from the matrix in the question: "using first row" ##-x+2y+2z=\frac{1}{3}λx## λ=1, that gives me ##-2x+y+z=0## there is more than one vector satisfy the conditions you said "through the origin and eigenvector with an associated eigenvalue of 1"...- ahmed markhoos

Finding rotation axis and angle, using eigenvalues
http://im54.gulfup.com/ZtJZd5.png http://im54.gulfup.com/SJgJXh.png Till now compared with other subjects that I studied by my self, linear algebra is really the toughest one  Anyway, here I found a plane using characteristic eq. which really surprised me since det(M)=1, M is the matrix...- ahmed markhoos

Best straight line fit to a set of data
Hello, I didn't know where to put my question, but I think here is the best section for it. http://im60.gulfup.com/apkrpJ.png The problem isn't that I can't solve it, I actually did but I don't understand the concept ! -- I don't remember anything from my high school stat and I didn't do...- ahmed markhoos
