Eigenvalues of a 4x4 matrix and the algebraic multipicities
Hi everyone Homework Statement Consider the following 4 x 4 matrix: A = [[6,3,-8,-4],[0,10,6,7],[0,0,6,-3],[0,0,0,6]] Find the eigenvalues of the matrix and their multiplicities. Give your answer as a set of pairs: {[lambda1,multiplicity1],[lambda2,multiplicity2],...} 2...- andrelutz001

Recommended Mechanics – Statics Books
I’m starting to understand the methods mentioned above after looking through 4 different books. In some cases the books that I’m using are approaching similar problems in a different way. Although at times confusing I now realize that in most cases there is more than one way to solve a problem...- andrelutz001

Recommended Mechanics – Statics Books
Hi everyone, I’m not 100 percent sure if this is the right section for this question but I guess I will find out very soon. I have come across some new material as part of my undergraduate engineering course relating to engineering mechanics, in particular truss analysis using the method...- andrelutz001

How Do You Solve Trigonometric Equations Involving Cosine and Sine?
Thank you for replaying danago. That definitely helps. So after dividing everything by 9 I’m getting: cos(2x)+1/9sin(x)=1 I can use the double angle formula to reduce the equation to one type of trig function, hence: 1-2sin^2(x)+1/9sin(x)=1 -sin^2(x)+1/9sin(x)=0 And i now have a...- andrelutz001

How Do You Solve Trigonometric Equations Involving Cosine and Sine?
Hi All, I’m currently attempting to work ahead on my precalculs and I’m looking at trigonometric equations. I seem to have a bit of a problem with this example (i haven’t had too many issues with the rest of the exercises), 9cos(2x)+sin(x)=9 (solve for x in the interval 0 <=x <=2pi.) I’m...- andrelutz001
