Does a Falling Object Possess Weight?
the force on an object due to a gravitational field... Weight = mass of the object x acceleration due to gravity... But I still don't know why the answer is no... Obviously the object still has mass so therefore the acceleration due to gravity must be zero...but I don't understand why it...- Astar

Does a Falling Object Possess Weight?
Homework Statement Does a falling object posses weight? Homework Equations F=mg The Attempt at a Solution I thought yes because it still has a mass and is accelerating due to gravity. However, the answer is No. If anyone could shed some light on this I would greatly appreciate it.- Astar

Is Impulse Conserved in Collisions?
So Impulse = Force x Time By impulse conservation I mean, the product of the force applied and the time over which it is applied remains the same before and after the collision. And yet that would mean that the change in momentum of the objects would be the same. I don't know if...- Astar

Is Impulse Conserved in Collisions?
Conservation of Impulse? Homework Statement I know that momentum is conserved, but is impulse? Homework Equations Impulse = change in momentum The Attempt at a Solution I really have no idea. I would say it isn't conserved because it equals the changein momentum. But the two...- Astar

Distance Waves can travel in space?
OH ofcourse, as space is a vacuum. So the waves will just continue going until they reach a medium. Okay thanks for that.- Astar

Distance Waves can travel in space?
Homework Statement So, higher frequency waves have greater energy than lower frequency waves. I know that around Earth the lower frequency waves penetrate best due to the higher frequency ones being absorbed by the atmosphere. However, in space do the higher frequency waves with more...- Astar

Controlled Variables in Exp to determine Refractive Index
Homework Statement My question is very basic, yet one which has become increasingly frustrating. I am doing an investigation into determing the refractive index of Perspex for an assignment. To do this I am using a light ray box to shine a ray onto a rectangular perspex prism, and then using...- Astar
