Magnetic Forces on objects in nonuniform fields
Yes the disk is coplanar to the ring. I read that in non uniform fields, magnetic forces are acted on a magnetic dipole. Won't the same happen here?- Astronaut

Magnetic Forces on objects in nonuniform fields
I have this question which I need to solve . But I am unable to. Suppose I have a current ring of radius R and current I (constant). at a distance x from the centre of the ring, I have a iron disk (radius r and thickness t) present in the plane of the ring. This disk will be attracted to the...- Astronaut

Is Stress dependent on the material properties?
I have read a different definition which involves RESTORING FORCE, not the force applied. That's why confusions are arising.- Astronaut

Is Stress dependent on the material properties?
I am trying to relate some things by this hypothesis. So, ASSUMING you somehow have a perfectly rigid material.. there will be no strain on the block no matter what the load applied. So, will stress be defined or not?- Astronaut

Is Stress dependent on the material properties?
What if I had a perfectly rigid block and applied a force on it, will stress be defined in this case?- Astronaut

Is Stress dependent on the material properties?
I have this fundamental question about stress and strain. If we apply same Force on two different objects of same geometry in the same configurations, will they experience the same stress? If yes, then does it imply that stress is independent of the internal material properties?- Astronaut

Astrophysicist vs aerospace engineer
Hi.. Please guide me what to do.. I am from India where Astrophysicists are not much neither they have importance. 70% of them are jobless. I want to explore how space works and all things related. But I belong to a middle class family and fear that if i became jobless I will suffer with my...- Astronaut

Graduate Do electrons produce a constant magnetic field?
but i thought that two frames with different velocities are both inertial and are same. Something moving with 0 acceleration and not moving almost have no difference. So i got a little confusion- Astronaut

This seems very odd to me . This happens only with magnetic field?- Astronaut

Graduate Do electrons produce a constant magnetic field?
I read somewhere that electrons produce constant magnetic field when moving with constant velocity. But I think it is not true.I thought a reason for it Imagine that an electron is stationary and I am moving with a constant velocity. In my respect electron is moving, so, it should produce...- Astronaut
