Graduate Two ways of detecting absolute motion
There are two ways by which absolute motion might be detected: by measuring motion with respect to a beam of light, and by making use of inertial effects that arise when an object is accelerated. So why MichelsonMorley experiment showed the first method to be unworkable? Einstein's special... -
Undergrad Is the Speed of Light Truly Constant?
Light travels more slowly through light-transmitting substances such as air or glass, otherwise no lens would refract light. so does this mean that the speed of light is not a universal constant? -
Undergrad Did the Michelson Morley Experiment Prove the Existence of Ether?
If the Earth moves in east direction then which direction will ether move in? assuming there is ether? -
Undergrad Did the Michelson Morley Experiment Prove the Existence of Ether?
Correct me if I am wrong. The beam that moves in the direction of the Earth's rotation should travel faster? -
Undergrad Did the Michelson Morley Experiment Prove the Existence of Ether?
But how do you make sure that one of the beams is going in the same direction as the Earth's motion? -
Undergrad Did the Michelson Morley Experiment Prove the Existence of Ether?
By measuring the speed of the light beams through the inferometer michelson morley tried to explain the existence of ether. This was done by measuring light beams's speed. The beams were in different direction. Did they want to say that the beam in the direction of the movement of the Earth... -
Undergrad Focus of Earth's elliptical orbit
Does this have any relation to the fact that the smallest distance in space time is an ellipse? its not a straight line?- avito009

Undergrad Focus of Earth's elliptical orbit
If the orbit of the Earth has only one focus which is the Sun then why can't it move in a circular path. Since a circle has only one focus and that is at the centre. Why is the sun the only focus when the path of Earth is an ellipse?- avito009

High School Why Does More Vapour Form When Taking a Bath in Colder Weather?
When the temperature in a city is lower and one has a bath in the bathroom then why does more vapour get created? More vapour than it would be created when the temperature is higher? -
Undergrad Blu-Ray Disc: Shorter Wavelength, Bigger Storage?
I think i know somewhat what happens but correct me if i m wrong. the cd drive shins a laser that is red in color and the blu ray disc reflects a blue laser beam. So originally the cd player shines a red beam of laser but blue beam is reflected from the blu ray disc -
Undergrad Blu-Ray Disc: Shorter Wavelength, Bigger Storage?
So can we use this analogy? If you've ever had to squeeze a certain amount of text on a single sheet of paper (maybe to make a poster) and found it difficult to get everything on, you'll know there's a simple solution: you just make your words a bit smaller (lower the font size). The same idea... -
Undergrad Blu-Ray Disc: Shorter Wavelength, Bigger Storage?
So you mean that inside the CD player, there is a miniature laser beam? but if there is a laser beam inside the cd player then is this laser red or blue and how does blu ray have blue laser? So is the laser inside the disc? or is it in the cd player? -
Undergrad Blu-Ray Disc: Shorter Wavelength, Bigger Storage?
blu ray disc has a shorter wavelength than a red laser (650nm), but how does having shorter wavelength effect storage space? answer in laypersons terms. -
How do animals have better immune systems than humans?
On further reading: I found that a dog can have a runny nose because it has sweat glands in the nose. It opens its mouth to keep his body temperature low. It helps it cool its body. But yes a dog can have a cold but that's not the reason for it to pant. As dogs grow older their immunity decreases.- avito009

How do animals have better immune systems than humans?
Animals get wet in the rain and still don't fall sick, how is that?. Let's take a stray dog. I have noticed that a dogs nose keeps running and he has to breathe though the mouth. So his immune system has some flaws. Can a human being become so immune just like animals? Tarzan had good imunity...- avito009
