A very good video on quantum mechanics

Okay, quantum physics is very new to me. I'm trying to grasp what's going on here. In the video, the speaker states, "The allowed orbits had to be exact multiples of the wavelengths calculated for the electrons. Other orbits produce destructive interference of the waves, and soon the electrons...

The derivative of a Taylor series?

Thank you. I'm not sure why I made it out to be quite so difficult... :(

The derivative of a Taylor series?

I'm really just caught up in looking at the sigma notation.. It throws me out of whack. I'm assuming I'm making a much bigger deal out of this than I should be. This may be a better question: If f(x) = f(a) + [f'(a)/1!](x-a) + [f"(a)/2!](x-a)^2 + ... Then f'(x) = ?

The derivative of a Taylor series?

I'm not kidding at all. At the time I received the problem I'd never heard of a Taylor series, and I haven't seen a problem with one since. It's something I've never had the opportunity to learn at school thus far.

The derivative of a Taylor series?

I took my first calculus class over the last two semesters, and my teacher and I privately worked on some harder material together. Toward the end of the school year he gave me a question that I never answered and never found an answer for. It asked me to find the derivative of a Taylor series...

I'm not sure this is a good idea

Actually... What do you mean by FFRDC? I've been looking into Cooperative education through my university and the jet propulsion laboratory.

I'm not sure this is a good idea

That about sums it up for me. Thanks a lot!

I'm not sure this is a good idea

No, I did not know that many of the NASA projects are administered by other institutions. I'm always looking to be enlightened and find the best in everything, so could you tell me about or link me to information pertaining to these different institutions. Again, it was just a dream I grew up...

I'm not sure this is a good idea

Sorry, I guess I wasn't very specific. I'm not entirely positive what I want to do as far as a career, but I do know that it will be science related. My majors are engineering physics, math and computer science, and chemistry, so I'm sure I'll have plenty of options available. Becoming an...

I'm not sure this is a good idea

My childhood dream was to work for NASA. I was fascinated with being an astronaut and such, you know? Now that I'm starting college and I'm fumbling potential career options in my head, I'm trying to weigh whether or not a NASA career would be a solid choice. I've heard people say that it's not...

I'm really new to the concept of quantum mechanics

From what I've gathered about quantum mechanics, it's based on probability, correct? (Yes, it's true that I know next to NOTHING about this subject) Could someone explain to me how we've come to discover this and how it contradicts classical mechanics?

    Some Electrical Engineering Help?

Some Electrical Engineering Help? :) I'm majoring in engineering beginning next semester and have always heard good talk about electrical engineering. Could anyone explain to me just WHY electrical engineering is so cool? I don't know much about it, and if there's already been a thread started...
