Graduate Is anyone of you learning Statistical Mechanics ? come and let's learn together

I think you mean symmetry, Twukwuw, not gauge symmetry.

Undergrad Visualising Tensors: Physics Explanation & Examples

A tensor is a collection of values that alters a field.

Graduate Gravitational Effects of Wave-Particle Duality in C60 Molecules

Q, if the particle acts as if it's mass is spread out over a larger area then it's gravitational field will be spread out as well and so will any forces acting on it. Also, gravity is dependent on mass as welll as distance so the gravity of a cloud would be limited to the mass of the cloud.

High School I am very new to quantum physics. Want to know how photons move.

Resh, how is the Uncertanty Principle involved in this? I thought that HUP was merely a mechanism used iin measuring. I did not realize it made any statement about electrons, protons, and photons not being "things".

Graduate Why does quantum mechanics not marry with the theroy of relativity

SD, I'm sure that you were referring to GR even though you didn't specify it. In most physics circles, if you ask a question like that without specifying either GR or SR you would be laughed at because quantum field theory does marry with SR in a most agreeable way. Now as for GR, I...

    Graduate Jumping between quantized values

Wouldn't the idea of a "seamless whole" produce ridiiculous results though? How can a state change instantaneously? Of course I'm only referring to states in a 3+1 dimensional well.

    Time Travel book recommendations

Hi. it's probably too late for me to post this but I'm bored so might as well. Before you go searching for the secret of time travel you should know that every modern book on theoretical physics contains at least one chapter on time travel and every one says the same thing. It's blah, blah...

High School Falling Paintball Speed Question

Isn't it correct to say that gravity would accelerate the paintball beyond 280fps if it was fired straight down? I don't believe that 40ft is a high enough distance for air resistance to sufficiently slow an object that size.

    Graduate =Special Theory Of Relativity=

Maybe a frame of reference traveling at the speed of light would be special because all other reference frames would be traveling slower than it. This special frame of reference would have a very large amount of energy. Supposedly an infinite amount. Time would be almost at a standstill and...

High School Why Does Approaching the Speed of Light Affect Mass and Time?

So the increase in energy is translated to an increase in mass. Does that mean that the space that the object is traveling in becomes more curved?

High School Why Does Approaching the Speed of Light Affect Mass and Time?

I hope someone posts an answer to that question soon. How does energy get converted to mass? I've never quite understood myself. If I come across anything I'll post it.

High School Regarding the Earth's magnetic field

I would say that the magnetic field does have quite an effect on compasses. It makes the needle point north and south.

High School Regarding the Earth's magnetic field

Why doesn't the mag. field affect objects on Earth? Is it just too far away or not powerful enough or what? Also, is there any way to harness its energy other than moving a huge conductor though it? Wouldn't it have a frequency? Anyone know this?
