Graduate Are Thermal States Always Mixed States?
ρ→1 and we get a pure state, is that correct? So there are pure thermal state, they are just thermal state at an (ideal) zero temperature? If I am right, do such pure thermal states exist in nature? Thanks a lot for your help!- camipol89

Graduate Are Thermal States Always Mixed States?
Hey guys, I was reading about thermal states and now I have a doubt: is a thermal state always a mixed state with density matrix ρ=exp(-βH)/Tr(exp(-βH)), or is there also a pure thermal state? Thank you- camipol89

Particle falling into a black hole singularity within a finite proper time
I thought about it but I'm not sure wether should I use schwarzschild coordinates nor kruskal coordinate, since I'm supposed to be in a regon with r<2M. The proper time for the obsverver is,I think, d/dτ= [(2M/r) − 1]^-1/2. The thing is is,when I try to write down the explicit expression for...- camipol89

Particle falling into a black hole singularity within a finite proper time
Hello, Can anyone help me with that? It's a problem taken from Wald book on General Relativity,in the section of Schwarzschild solution Thanks Show that any particle (not necessarily in geodesic motion) in region II (r < 2M ) of the extended Schwarzschild spacetime, Figure 6.9, must...- camipol89

Graduate Proving Constant Curvature in n-Dimensional Manifold
Hello everybody, How do you prove that, given an n-dimensional manifold with constant curvature , i.e. the constant K is given by : K= R/n(n-1) (R denotes the scalar curvature)? I tried to contract the Riemann tensor in the expression above to obtain on the left side the scalar...- camipol89
