Undergrad Is there really no gravitational force at the center of a massive object?
No, because an atom is a fuction of the uncertainty principle. I was talking about being at the center of the singularity of a black hole. A very small space but I can visualize it. Let's get to the bottom of it. If you are at the center of the singlarity of a black hole, does it make any...- capnahab

How Do Ammeters and Voltmeters Function in a Circuit Diagram?
The ammeter measures power. The voltmeter measures the amount of power but the ohmmeter is the deciding factor. Always remember ohms law, I equals E over R. They are all dependent on each other but that is why it is called Ohms law. Read it, study it and memorize it. It may save your life someday.- capnahab

Undergrad Is there really no gravitational force at the center of a massive object?
Would this be called "death by crushing?" But if you are at the theoretical center of mass does it make any difference?- capnahab

High School Why I can burn a paper with magnifying glass and sun?
It is called the "kindling point". Next time aim (focus) the magnifing glass on the palm of your hand while trying to incinerate the unfortunate bug. -

High School Windows Exploding: Science Behind the Scenes
One thing everybody is forgettin is that windows in a automobile do not explode but crack, mandated by the "holier than thou" US government. It is a cheap Hollywood trick.- capnahab

How to pulse electric a current
After reading your question closer, one thing I could do is make a multivibrator out of two nine volt DC relays. The multivibrator frequency would be determined by the RL of the relays. I have never tried this but would give a guess at 20HZ? The frequency depends on the RL circuit and the larger...- capnahab

How to pulse electric a current
It would help a lot to describe the frequency of the pulse. Please be specific to get an educated guess. Don't expect an exact answer but one that will point you in the right direction.- capnahab

Never Never assume a circuit is dead
David90, how did you know that? I was bleeding from the mouth because I was biting my tongue but that was the least of my problems. My ears usually ring a a low decibell but they went up 10db, were really ringing, sounded like a fire alarm. I should also mention they have now stopped ringing...- capnahab

Never Never assume a circuit is dead
Mr. Stewart, to be honest with you it was not a underpaid technician but a overpaid electrician. Here is how they did it: The control circuit of a 700HP induction motor was remotely energized even though the main power was locked out. When the control circuit was remotely powered from a...- capnahab

Never Never assume a circuit is dead
Mr. Stewart you are 100% right. We have a lock out policy and the power source was locked out. Somebody rigged it at a remote location for a stupid reason. All is forgiven and I celebrate life but want everybody to know to watch their P's and Q's because nobody else will and will cheat the...- capnahab

Never Never assume a circuit is dead
After surviving I found it quite pleasureable. When you get bucked off of the horse, you either ride it or the animal is sent to the glue factory. After the experience I am quite elated because I know how close I came yet survived.- capnahab

Never Never assume a circuit is dead
Just wanted to post to the other electrical people how it can get you even if you have all of the bases covered, in your thinking. I have worked with all kinds of high power equipment and low power equipment since 1970. Last night I had a 480VAC three phase circuit locked out (locked out for two...- capnahab

High School Why does a whistle sound louder when you blow harder?
You are 100% right RonL. You can slice it and dice it as many ways as you want to but there is only one answer to the question. The answer on the teachers answer card. -

High School Why does a whistle sound louder when you blow harder?
seycyrus, who stated it was a "simple whistle". Maybe the original thread starter should state the type of whistle. Is it a Ford or a Chevy, then intelligent posts can be made. That was all I was trying to point out. Don't forget the details or the details will get you.
