Relativistic Addition of Proton Velocities
Ahh, got it. Our physics teacher gave us a slightly off formula, so it was cleared up today. Thanks!- catch-22

Relativistic Addition of Proton Velocities
Homework Statement An electron moves to the right with a speed of 0.90c relative to the laboratory frame. A proton moves to the left with a speed of 0.70c relative to the electron. Find the speed of the proton relative to the laboratory frame. Homework Equations Vx'=[Vx-V]/[1+(v2/c2)*Vx]...- catch-22

Centripetal force with circular motion
I'm still not getting the right answer. Using this, I've come up with m=[10m*(1000 N-9.81m/s[SIZE="1"]2*kg)]/(8.0m2/s[SIZE="1"][SIZE="1"]2), which keeps working out to around 154 kg, still way off. What am I missing here?- catch-22

Centripetal force with circular motion
This problem seems simple, but I can't get the answer: Homework Statement Tarzan tries to cross a river by swinging from one bank to the other on a vine that is 10.0 m long. His speed at the bottom of the swing is 8.0 m/s. Tarzan does not know that the vine has a breaking strength of 1000 N...- catch-22
