Engineering How Do You Determine Reverse Saturation Current in Diode Circuits?

Actually I already figured it out using nodal analysis, but thanks anyway. And I just tried using Thevenin's theorem, and it worked out too :)

Engineering How Do You Determine Reverse Saturation Current in Diode Circuits?

Homework Statement Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution Just want to know whether I have the right idea: so to determine the reverse saturation current (IS), I just determine it for each value of VD that was given? So finding IS for 0.6, 0.65, 0.7 etc? The question...

    What's wrong with this circuit?

^^Thanks for your input. I'm trying to design another circuit now, that involves using two Schmitt triggers, yet outputting them to two transistors (so one each) and then outputting those transistors to a single transistor, which then goes to the speaker.

    What's wrong with this circuit?

^^Unfortunately we have to use the 7414. I was looking into the 555 IC, since I have a few at home. The data sheet has a formula to find the frequency of the individual relaxation oscillators: f= 1/(0.8*R*C), for the top one (with the 1k R) I get 1250Hz, the bottom one is 1.25Hz. So I was...

    What's wrong with this circuit?

Well I ended up introducing a 1k resistor, and I still get the two tones.

    What's wrong with this circuit?

Thanks fellas. So introducing a resistor before the diode should solve/mitigate the issue of a short? Also, is my understanding of the operation of the circuit right?

    What's wrong with this circuit?

We have to make a two tone siren using a Schmitt Trigger (74HC14N) and my group and I came up with this circuit. Pretty simple really, but the tutor for our class said that it's not a very good design because: it's not a good idea to drive the two Schmitt Triggers at the same time, and because...

    Health risks with radio transmission?

Ok I've done my research and so long as the transmitter isn't outputting at a high level of power, you'll be fine. Why I ask is because I'm looking into getting a job with a small company, where they install network elements such as optical and radio transmissoin (and multiplexers). Now I...

Are there any health risks with radio transmission?

    Joints/fixtures for a beam bridge

I have a group project where we must build a small scale, cable-stayed bridge, with only one pylon (it's really an observation deck). The actual bridge is going to be a beam one. I'm just wondering if anyone knows of some decent joints/fixtures that can be used to hold the wood pieces...

A device that can measure height

Hey, thanks for the response tiny-tim! Whilst it didn't look like that, it was in a very similar shape. The "spine" of it was curved and there was some sort of tube on the top, but I think it may have been put there for appeal. So I'm guessing it must have been using ultrasonic waves, in which...

A device that can measure height

A few shopping centres in my area have these devices that can measure your weight and height. I figured I'd try it out, all you had to do was insert a $1 coin. Thing is, it has this type of tube on the top of it (the actual device was in an elongated C shape with a small platform to stand...

Are power stations wasting energy during Earth Hour?

So the rate at which the generators are being turned depends on how high the demand is at the load? But how does the power station know when the demand is high or low? Wouldn't it take some amount of time for the power station to be given some form of feed back by the load, that more power is...

What is the derivative of the square root of 2x using the chain rule?

Thanks. But isn't 2x the same as saying 2*x ?

Are power stations wasting energy during Earth Hour?

Has everyone heard about the Earth Hour movement? Where you're encouraged to turn off anything that uses electricity in your home, for an hour, to conserve energy. What I'm wonedering is: let's say that a large group of people depend on a specific power station, so when they all, or the...
