Checking My Work: Solving for Force in Member GH
1. Homework Statement I solved for all the forces in the members, but I was using a force truss member calculator to check my work. All the forces match up with the calculated but one, that is the force in member GH. I get 11.3 in tension the calculator gets 6 in tension. So am I right or...- Comfy

Having trouble calculating reaction forces for this truss.
I have more than 2 equations, I have sum of forces in y and sum of moments about any of the supports. It is statically determinate because 2 (11 joints)=17 members+5 reactions. What do you mean by 2 equations of statics?- Comfy

Having trouble calculating reaction forces for this truss.
This truss is statically determinate now, and should be solvable, right? That is why I don't understand why I am having trouble solving for the support reactions.- Comfy

Method of joints for bridge truss
So what you are saying is that there should not be rollers on top of the cliffs? That drawing is from my teacher as a guideline to get us started and such.- Comfy

Method of joints for bridge truss
When I calculate support reactions for the truss I made with the 12.5 kip load in center I keep getting zero. That should not happen, unless I am mistaken.- Comfy

Method of joints for bridge truss
We are suppose to design a truss that can handle a load of 12.5 kip at the center of this bridge. There is a roller at the top left just under bridge, there is a roller at top right just under bridge, there is a roller on support underneath bottom right of bridge, and there is a hinge on...- Comfy

Method of joints for bridge truss
That is the right thing to do right? I keep getting Fy and Cy to cancel out during my sum of the moments equation? So I have sum of moments about D to be 0=0?- Comfy
