    High School If earths rotation stoped, the moon would be released.

    A friend insist that gravity is due to Earth's rotation and that if it stopped spinning the moon would sease to orbit and would be lauched in space! Is that right? What pourcentage of Earth's gravity is caused by it's rotation? I thought the gravity came from it's mass! Thanks Eric
