Programs Should I Switch My Major to Math+CS for Better Grad School Applications?
because otherwise i'll have no space to take the interesting graduate courses mentioned above and ill have to take a bunch of logic and computability courses, which i don't find particularly interesting , and i don't think they'll be very useful for grad school in applied math- Dazedandconfu

Programs Should I Switch My Major to Math+CS for Better Grad School Applications?
iv already taken a lot of math courses (cal 2,3,4, lin alg. ode, pde, discrete math, probability, analysis,) and I am planning on taking combinatorics(graduate), game theory(graduate) and optimization(graduate), its just i don't have any undergrad logic, abstract algebra and theoretical CS...- Dazedandconfu

Programs Should I Switch My Major to Math+CS for Better Grad School Applications?
again, I am in a bit of a dilemma, as my screen-name would suggest lol so I am currently in physics+CS and I am wondering if i should switch to math+CS, but if i switch to math+CS and ill have to take more logic and theoretical CS courses, which I am not too interested in, if i stay in...- Dazedandconfu

Graduate What Are the Possible Functions That Satisfy f(f(x)=f(x) on [0,1]?
aite, here goes f(f(x)=f(x), find all functions that satisfy this on [0,1], i know f(x)=x and f(x)=c satisfy this equation, but I am looking for something more outlandish, feel free to make it discontinuous, define it separately over the rationals and irrationals, or any sort of crazy function...- Dazedandconfu

Graduate Numerical Integration for Cylindrical Domain with C2 Function and Point Data
hmm, the data is non uniformly spaced, so the riemann integral cannot be done (without interpolation), so i suppose i'll have to generate a interpolation, and then numerically integrate, thanks!,- Dazedandconfu

Graduate Numerical Integration for Cylindrical Domain with C2 Function and Point Data
ok, I'm not completely sure which section this goes into, but since I'm using this to solve a PDE ima going to put it in here, I need to integrate w(x,y,z)*V(x,y,z) over a cylindrical domain, it would be fairly simple if V had a "formula" describing the function, but i only have V as a number...- Dazedandconfu

Inverse fourier transform of gaussian
im fairly certain that the limits are -inf. to inf . well yes, i get that you only integrate in one variable, but isn't it true that a complex number a+bi, with arbitrary a and b can span the entire complex plane? so you would have a line integral in da and idb, with both a and b (-∞,∞) or...- Dazedandconfu

Inverse fourier transform of gaussian
well its the integral (e(-k^2)e^ikx)dk over the entire complex plane right?, so unless I am wrong there are two ways to integrate over the complex plane, a circle of infinite radius, or k=x+iy, and x,y go to infinity riight??- Dazedandconfu

Inverse fourier transform of gaussian
well, i have to prove that the inv. Fourier transform of a gaussian (e^(-(k^2/2)) is a gaussian, i know some elementary complex analysis(never actually taken a class in it), not well enough, it seems, to find the solution to this. I tried to integrate over a circular contour, and let the radius...- Dazedandconfu

Undergrad Questions: Physics & CS Double Major
@ stengah yeah , i should def. take some applied math courses, but I'm not completely sure which ones to take , as of now I've taken advanced calc, linear alg, and a differential equation(ODE) courses , I'm going to be taking one more differential equation course (partials) , probability, and...- Dazedandconfu

Undergrad Questions: Physics & CS Double Major
confused undergrad! hey guys, i'm about to start my junior year (double majoring in physics and computer science) , couple of questions, would i be eligible to apply to grad school for applied math (i'm interested in development of quantum algorithms) , also what kind of a jobs would i be able...- Dazedandconfu

Programs What grad schools can I get into with a 3.0 GPA as a physics major?
I'm a 2nd year physics major, with a minor in math, i have a GPA around 3, (4 point system), and i will probably graduate by next year, i was wondering what grad schools i would have a shot at?- Dazedandconfu
