Other How does research work, as far as facilities are concerned?
I agree with everything you just said, and I really, really like the way you put that. Thanks for the advice.- diligentExplorer

Other How does research work, as far as facilities are concerned?
In response to ZapperZ, I think what I'll do is get out of the library during the summer semester (no classes) and just try to find a place to be of use as an assistant in a lab. I don't have a job, friends, or coursework during the summer, so I'll be able to entirely focus on whatever I'm...- diligentExplorer

Other How does research work, as far as facilities are concerned?
I was aware of the cost and was not expecting a "free lunch." But I can pay for the cleanroom fees and material costs up front, so I would not need to be involved in grants/funding. I'm just asking about permission to conduct activities in there. Thank you for the information.- diligentExplorer

Other How does research work, as far as facilities are concerned?
I am an undergraduate electrical engineering student, and I have thus far in my collegiate experience lived in the library. I've learned a lot, and have written lots of embedded software and developed my own boards for various projects. I recently started designing my own ASIC (an...- diligentExplorer

How might I liquefy small quantities of natural gas?
Wow, silly me. I was just thinking of scaling down the large-scale process, but that's an obvious solution I should have thought of and it really that works great for small quantities such as those I am working with. I guess I will have to devise some sort of apparatus that can safely condense...- diligentExplorer

Finding the center of mass of an arbitrary uniform triangle
The triangle's coordinates are arbitrary. They don't matter. When you want to find the average value of a set of data, you are finding the average value of a set of discrete data. When you integrate, you are finding the average value of a continuous function. Imagine now a function of TWO...- diligentExplorer

Finding the center of mass of an arbitrary uniform triangle
If it's a uniform triangle, then the center of mass is the geometric centroid. You really don't need to use calculus for a uniform triangle.- diligentExplorer

How might I liquefy small quantities of natural gas?
Several undergraduate and graduate students and I are building a small engine powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). It is a small and straightforward affair, similar to what is found in small equipment such as chainsaws and lawn mowers. I wanted to experiment with Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)...- diligentExplorer

What are the benefits of joining a scientific forum as a non-member guest?
I am quite enthusiastic about joining this forum after reading it every now and again as a non-member guest. I hope to contribute more in the future (and ask slightly less silly questions) as I continue my studies in Physics. I aim to be no less than my username describes in the future.- diligentExplorer
