How Many Kinds of Mass Does the Higgs Boson Mediate?

Ok, newb question. I understand that the Higgs mediates 'mass'. But the graviton (if it exists) mediates gravitation, right? So I assume this means mass is being treated separately, with the Higgs mediating inertial mass and the graviton mediating active gravitational mass, right? So what about...

Are space and time really quantized?

Is it really true that space and time are quantized or is it just a mathematical abstraction? If it is true, then what happens to this quantization under special relativity and general relativity? Is the minimum quantized distance different at the surface of a black hole than it is in the middle...

Is body to body gravity scale independent?

I'm working on a gravity simulator and I can't help but feel that I've done something wrong. Extremely large bodies take a longer time to fall into each other than smaller ones. Is this right? Like for example, if you had to bodies of solar mass at 1 AU apart, would it take a longer, shorter or...

Is planck time the same in all reference frames?

Quick question: Is Planck time the same in all reference frames? Is it different at, say, half the speed of light than at a relatively stationary point? What about in a severe gravitational field, like a black hole?

Someone is sending packets to my PC

well, that could pose a small security risk. someone is trying to poke at your machine, but the good news is that they're being blocked. these sorts of things aren't uncommon anymore now that the internet is so incredibly massive, so i wouldn't think it's anything personal, probably just...

Someone is sending packets to my PC

Both the packets and the TCP connection are your internet connection. Don't worry about it. Most internet cards maintain activity well after your stop surfing the web, it doesn't contain any important information, just stuff to maintain an idle connection and say you're still there.

Approximate Space Physics for Online Game

Thanks everyone. I incorporated your ideas and physics seem to be working correctly. I'll post a link when the game is done.

Is there a 'classical' equation for the strong force?

Thanks. To everyone. Those were all a lot better answers than I've received before.

Is there a 'classical' equation for the strong force?

Sorry if this is a bit stupid, but I have absolutely no grasp on chromodynamics or really any nucleic forces... Is there a 'classical' way of expressing the strong force in an equation? By classical, I mean extremely simple, approximate way of describing it for two point particles. Like a...

Approximate Space Physics for Online Game

How would you implement this diminishing effect? Would it just be that when ever a force is applied to the body it's reduced by the lorentz factor for that body? Or would it be that I keep the 'real' (relative to the player) velocity of the object stored separately and use it to calculate the...

Approximate Space Physics for Online Game

Well, the reason for having these effects at all comes in that the user can speed up time, so over an extremely long period of time, say a year, these frame dragging may result in noticeable changes, and if I'm not mistake (which I may be), tidal lock is caused by gravitomagnetic effects, right...

Approximate Space Physics for Online Game

After reading over my original post, I thought I might need to be a bit more specific. One equation I think I need to work out is how much torque is imposed on a body by another body rotating about it. The mass of the first body could be represented by ma and the mass of the second by mb. The...

Approximate Space Physics for Online Game

Hi, I'm an indie game developer working on a free online puzzle/simulation game set in space. The object of the game is to move, resize, push, pull and otherwise manipulate celestial bodies to solve problems, like putting a planet in a stable orbit or accelerating a satellite to near...
