Graduate Regarding probability bound of flip coins
Suppose you flip a fair coin 10,000 time how can you characterize the distribution of the occurrence of head? From the textbook, it says that P[head>n/2 + k√n] < e^(-k^2)/2, why is that and what is the derivation? What theorem is this, we had only learn Bernoulli distribution and Chebyshev so...- f24u7

Undergrad Confusion regarding delta definition of limit
I don't quite get the significance of the delta limit definition, if n>N and |sn−s|< ϵ , why does the limit converges does this simply means that there exist a number ε such that if n is great enough it will be greater than s by ε? But this doesn't make sense, because s is the value... -

Why does some key pair for RSA return same value
There are certain key pairs of RSA that will return the same exact value when encrypt and decrypt, for example (5,7) and (13,19) is there a mathematical pattern that describes this behavior? Any advice would be appreciated- f24u7

Question regarding modular arithmetic from discrete math
I think you miss the order, the original statement just says that there exist a, b that exist in the set of integers in which a and b is not equal to zero- f24u7

Question regarding modular arithmetic from discrete math
Homework Statement Homework Equations a. I know that x*a mod y should be the same as y*b mod x but I don't understand why b. I know that an inverse can be constructed because x and y are mutually prime and gcd(x,y) = 1 , but I have no clue at what pair x and m is possible c. I have no idea...- f24u7

Question about power generation
thanks for the reply, however I am still a little confused, as doesn't majority types of power plant have to maintain critical temperature, so resource might be wasted when power demand is below the minimum generating requirement to keep the power plant running, and even if it is throttled how...- f24u7

Question about power generation
Hi, it has recently occurred to me that current technology does not allow massive electricity storage, and this has made me rather confused, as this implies that power generation has to be exactly matching the demand of power at any given time or else energy is wasted because of generating too...- f24u7

Undergrad Question about Pi in different base
Hi, recently I have being thinking about math in different bases, and I was wondering if there is a relationship between ∏ from different bases. Also is there mathematics related books that discusses math in different bases? Thanks in advance- f24u7

Undergrad Question about simple analysis proof
I saw a proof on a textbook, but I don't understand why m and n should not both be even? Prove p^2 =2 then p is irrational (1) p^2 = 2 is not satisfied by any rational p. If there were such a p, we could write p = m/n where m and n are integers that are not both even. Then (1) implies (2)... -
