[Xcode] Absolute value issue in C
Additionally, any idea on what I can do for division? When the denominator is 0 I'm supposed to have it give an error and return to menu. Right now in between the issued error and the menu return, the program still returns the (nonsensical) answer. #include <stdio.h> #include <math.h>...- fysika

[Xcode] Absolute value issue in C
My professor only mentioned math.h. I just cropped it to show the error, give me a second and I'll post the entire code: I have one answer declared as an integer and another one declared as a float.- fysika

[Xcode] Absolute value issue in C
Hey PF, I'm building a simple math calculator program in C for my Programming class. My problem is Xcode doesn't recognize the absolute value function (abs), even with math.h included: Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? Is there a way for me to define this on my own? Thank...- fysika

Questions for past physics undergrad researchers
At this point, I'm not pouncing at anything. I've got some potential programs I'd like to be a part of, but right now I'm just focusing on getting all the information I can - then I can tell where and what to work on. I'm well aware of the place of an undergrad in research.- fysika

Questions for past physics undergrad researchers
Hello PF, I'm trying to get my prospects for REU and other research opportunities figured out, and when I might apply for them. Through my university's honors program, I am already guaranteed at least one research opportunity. That is, however, further down the line in my studies. My...- fysika

Which sub-fields do these interests direct me towards in physics?
Why isn't quantum physics a choice? On the topic of physics vs astrophysics; you mention you don't want to be tied down to just astrophysics. Many colleges don't separate these degrees, it's just physics. If you pursue a "pure" physics degree, there's nothing stopping you from going into...- fysika

Career option with Bsc physics major.
Ultimately, only you can decide that. Since your declared major is physics, I assume you "love" the subject as well. If you really enjoy programming, there's good news for you: physics can be very programming intensive. If you're really only interested in programming and cs, I think a cs major...- fysika

PhD school is ranked lower than undergrad
Generally, no, it won't be seen as "bad". The things that really matter for prospective hirers in academia, more so than what institution you attend(ed), is your grades and research.- fysika

Should I Continue My Engineering Internship Even Without Hands-On Experience?
So basically all your internship entails is paper work? If that's the case, and you have additional opportunities that involve real engineering or research available, I'd say try to make the switch - the thing potential employers or grad schools will value is research. Quitting an internship...- fysika

Learn Math & Physics on Your Own: Tips for Middle Schoolers
Before I started university, I took it upon myself to learn basic calculus and some rudimentary physics. It's definitely possible. I second verty's recommendation for ... A Problem Solving Approach. One thing I've found with learning things on your own is it's easier to get lost/off track. If...- fysika
