Why Didn't Taking the Second Derivative Solve the Angular Acceleration Problem?
Oh, I thought that total linear acceleration was only the tangential acceleration...Would I have to include centripetal acceleration? If so, how?- Garen

Why Didn't Taking the Second Derivative Solve the Angular Acceleration Problem?
Homework Statement The Attempt at a Solution I thought I could take the second derivative and get the angular acceleration from which I could use where ω is the angular velocity, is the linear tangential acceleration, and r is the radius of curvature. But for some reason, it didn't...- Garen

Solving Momentum and Kinetic Energy Relations
Homework Statement Homework Equations [PLAIN]http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/7/7/4/7745116605c54295c6c3b696cea2d39f.png[/URL] The Attempt at a Solution I have gotten these problems wrong too many times. I know that I have to apply both the conservations of momentum and kinetic energy, but...- Garen

Why Is My Approach to Solving Physics Homework Incorrect?
Homework Statement Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution The way I understood is it is by taking ma and setting it equal to mv^2/r and solving for v. With this I got answer choice number 9, sqrt(glsinTHETA). But it's wrong. Can anyone direct me in the right direction to...- Garen

Graduate Can the speed of light be exceeded by relative velocities?
Just wondering, if photon A and B are traveling towards each other head on (at the speed of light) why isn't the velocity of B relative to A exceed the speed of light? And no, it is not homework related.- Garen

A fun new circular motion question
So what you're saying is that I set 9.8=v/(radius of cylinder) ? (3459.35)(9.8)=v 33901.73=v=angular speed in rad/s Is this correct?- Garen
