Insects depend on vortices to keep them aloft
There is a lot of research into mimicing natural fliers. Birds, Bats, and insects. I do not know of any complete successes, but I do know that if you want more info, then search UAV's (Uncrude Air Vehicles)- griffin

Devil's Advocate for an A.I. project
There are humans who work as butlers and cleaning people and whatnot ever else, yet they lead fulfilling lives and I don't see any reason why we should not find the right paramaters to make it seem a fulfilling life for it to be a servant. You don't see the cleaning lady rebelions in the streats.- griffin

Installed my first Linux Operating system
I have recently installed my first Linux Operating system, Red Hat 9. I have no problem navigating the visual interfaces (I was originaly a windows user, and I was able to open files, save things, and all the easy things that the visual things let one do), but I have been trying to install...- griffin

Aeronautical and astronautical Engineering
I am a Junior in an Aerospace Engineering department, (KU). At my school most of the introductory classes are based on airplanes, Which is as enigma said aeronautical. once you get into the junior and seinor level then there are classes geared toward the Space craft and such, Which is...- griffin

New Ideas for shelding:manned deep space Missions
the only other thing I could think of is if it hardened when pressure decreased. I don't know very much about current sheilding technology, but I did attend a lecture, and one of the key points that were mentioned inhibiting long term space flight outside of earthes immediate vacinity was...- griffin

New Ideas for shelding:manned deep space Missions
One of the many difficulties in haveing a manned deep space mission is that durring the course of the trip, you are very likely to be hit by a large number of micro meteorites, which would penetrate the hull and start decompressing your ship. Hence we need a solution that will match these...- griffin

Key to figuring out gravity and all of its secrets
Acctually you are very close. The word is Ionized wind. And this is a very good explanation for most of the lift generated by lifters, but the equations that use Ionized wind as the exclusive source of thrust, give one number for thrust, and the actual experimental value is a little bit...- griffin

Key to figuring out gravity and all of its secrets
I was reviewing some of the old posts in the Ion propultion thread and ran across the Lifters referance. I checked it out, and I was dumb-founded. I can only say that I have been studying Aerospace engineering and some fields of physics for nearly 3 years and in none of my travles or research...- griffin

Can CO2 Capsules Power a Rocket to New Heights?
any type of flow can be accelerated using a nozzle, the problem will be how much you can accelerate it to. For that part I would suggest researching a little bit more about fluid mechanics. (bernulies equations are what govern acceleration of a fluid). As for the rest of the problem, if...- griffin

Is It Time for a Moon or Mars Mission?
First of all I was saying that pluto was probably a bad choice of planets to visit. the resorses were not and would not be wasted on a moon mission, and they would also not be wasted on a Mars mission. (secondly Titan is a very interesting topic. First of all the oceans are theorized to be...- griffin

Is It Time for a Moon or Mars Mission?
It is a terrible comentary on the state of our race to see educated people putting such hard limits on such unknown areas. 1. I happen to agree that physical Laws are not to be bended, but look at what you are calling a law. F=ma is a law (Newton's first if I am not mistaken), but E=mc^2...- griffin

Aerospace Engineering: Pros, Cons & Advice
I am in aero, and the AE department at my school will not allow there students to have a double major, and they frown on minors as well. There is a saying in among the students "sleep is a crutch". There are more people that you would expect that live by that mentality. just some advice...- griffin
