I was reading up on those but it did not describe in detail how a Gerotor acts as an air pump, and what would happen in non ideal scenarios.- hxtasy

Gerotor pump, will it work in a closed system without air?
Thanks for all the comments guys. in this case, I am talking a type of fuel, and the shut off is there to stop the flow before ignition, however the pump is mechanically operated on the engine. So this is a real condition that would happen, during an emergency shut off. I kind of want to build a...- hxtasy

Gerotor pump, will it work in a closed system without air?
just hypothetical question, First off I am not very knowledgeable in pumps. Let's say you have a pump to pump fluid, i don't think the type matters, self priming as I understand it creates a vacuum with the air in the system to pull the fluid towards the gear pumps. I'm wondering what happens...- hxtasy

Type this into word or outlook, bug?
try this with a space at the end, don't do anything else except click the cursor back to in front of the d in designed "Hunter is having a top cover re‑designed " something is definitely not normal, because you can also do it as "re designed" without the hypen, and a varitey of other words...- hxtasy

Type this into word or outlook, bug?
messed up original post: "Hunter is having a top cover re‑designed" no period. now click the cursor right before the d in designed. hit tab, it will tab a single space. not a full tab. change "Hunter" to "Mike" or any other name, it will do a full Tab. try a word like "re-test" or...- hxtasy

Undergrad Calculating force on a punching bag?
very good info, a lot more to think about here than i original thought. this needs to be more precise than accurate, even if its an arbitrary number, its a good way for people in our martial arts gym to understand their performance. -
Undergrad Calculating force on a punching bag?

Undergrad Calculating force on a punching bag?
i have a punching bag, say it weighs 70 lbs, hung by a chain. i duct tape an acceleromter (sparkfun) on the back of it, sampling at ~300 hz (is that enough?). punch the bag, i get a force in G force. how can i calculate this to say, foot lbs? i really am not sure where to start with this. any... -
Undergrad Obligatory Newton to g force question, accelerometers drop
To summarize, I am doing some drop test by hanging an object off of a fork lift forks, raising it, dropping it onto either concrete floor or some foam/dampening material. an accelerometer is placed on the object being dropped (epoxied on). if i am getting 46403.666 Newtons as the force, how... -
Undergrad How would music sound in a different atmosphere?
on a separate note, people that do SPL competitions with loud car stereos can only hit 180-190 dB because of the atmospheric pressure we are limited in manipulating. supposedly a different pressure would change that limitation. -
Undergrad Bounce light back and forth between mirrors forever?
[Mentors' note - this post was forked off from this thread because it's an interesting question in its own right] I would also like clarification on this. if you throw a rubber ball at concrete, it will "bounce off". if you throw the rubber ball at mud, the mud will absorb it and it will stay... -
