How do I combine equations for absolute independent motion with pulleys?

Managed to get there myself eventually but thanks for the intended help

How do I combine equations for absolute independent motion with pulleys?

Homework Statement I've been given a problem with pulleys which I have attached to this post. I've derived the equations shown in the post but I'll also write them below. What I'm struggling with is how to combine them. Homework Equations ##l_1=S_a+2S_c## ##l_2=S_d+(S_d-S_c)##...

How do I find distance given time and an arbitrary distance?

Ah yeah. Good point. I won't try and input anymore I've already been wrong once

How do I find distance given time and an arbitrary distance?

I'm not 100% sure as I'm just learning this stuff myself. But I think you can work out the velocity to the bottom of the window by just doing ##v_1=d/t## calling this velocity ##v_1## then put this in as an initial velocity in your ##v=v_0+at## to find out your v over the two seconds. Then use...

What is the final pressure in the balloons after being disconnected?

I'm not sure as I'm only just learning this stuff myself though it appears I'm a couple of weeks behind you but wouldn't it be worth finding the mass flow rate? Sorry if that's wrong.

    Magnitude of velocity and acceleration

That's OK. The intention to help was appreciated

    Magnitude of velocity and acceleration

Thanks for all your help. I'll see what I can do from here. You've been a saint I'd give you +100 likes if I could

    Magnitude of velocity and acceleration

Never done that before but I'll look into it. Won't that give multiple values for t?
  9. JustDerek

    Magnitude of velocity and acceleration

Which is get ##524=0.01t^3+5t## which believe it or not I've had worked out for two days. What I don't get is how to isolate t from this

    Magnitude of velocity and acceleration

So I make ##a=0 s=524 and V_0=5## and try to solve t for this?

    Magnitude of velocity and acceleration

Wouldn't that make c=0 at the start point?

    Magnitude of velocity and acceleration

You right I did integrate it wrong it's ##5t## and not ##2.5t^2##

    Magnitude of velocity and acceleration

ok now my mind is just gone, I'm going to leave it for a while and come back to it another time

    Magnitude of velocity and acceleration

also i know this gives ##524=0.01^3+2.5t^2+c##

    Magnitude of velocity and acceleration

I've integrated twice. I got ##v=0.03t^2+5t## and then integrated again to get ##s=0.01^3+2.5t^2+c## but even here I'm unsure how to isolate the t's because they have different powers and values attached to them
