Calculating table's legs positioning
I have an MDF board (that corky stuff), 80x30" and 6/10" thick. I want to make it a desk, so obviously I'm going to buy some legs from Ikea. The leg is a regular tube, a socket and 5 screws. Is there a way to calculate the safe distance to leave between the legs? I mean I could just...- ketamynx

How big does a Li-Po battery has to be to absorb a lightning bolt?
What I'm asking is not strike and dissipate, I'm asking really capturing and storing the energy for later use. I mean are we talking more than cubic kilometers? I know a thunderbolt is just regular, really high power DC but if 220V@10,000W can be bottled in a less-than-half-a m³ UPS, why is...- ketamynx

Undergrad Basic question regarding point of view
Hello, people. I have two questions but first please bear in mind that I have an absolute 0 of theoretical knowledge. I just read what's on the Internet and I'm curious. So here are the questions: 1. Temperature makes atoms vibrate. However I've found out that you can't figure a precise...- ketamynx

Undergrad The black hole isn't actually a hole
Is this true? We're in computing but we have a classmate that says that when a star collapses, all the material in it fuses together under such power, that it creates one giant super stable atom, and the actual black hole isn't a hole at all. What do you think?- ketamynx

Making a Big Ice Block on a Budget
I have an extremely old refrigerator. [and] I want to properly insulate the freezer part, fill it with water and make a large ice block. Then expose it to sunlight and see how it melts. Pure experiment. I need an idea of a hydrophobic material or something, so I can take the block out...- ketamynx

Physical Kick Drive - Does It Exist?
Thanks, I can't believe I forgot the laws of movement. But additionally, I have a few other wonders: 1. We fly a rocket, and at it's end we mount a huge rubber bag or whatever to get back all the burnt gas and carry it back, would this work practically or will it follow the same laws? And...- ketamynx

Physical Kick Drive - Does It Exist?
Hello friends. I simply couldn't find an easier way to explain what I'm looking for, so here's a drawing. And my questions are: 1. Does something similar even exists, and how is it called? 2. With the proper masses/ratios/calculations/whatever & control system, is this device able to...- ketamynx

Why Does Yahoo Messenger Sign Me Out When Checking Email?
Hi David. I got the same problem while checking my e-mail, Y!'s mail interface (both the old & the new one) has some sort of limited IM applet that'll pop you out when you check your mail. If that's not the case, the safest way is to change your password.- ketamynx
