Mass of Planet Using Radius and Doppler Effect
Homework Statement Imagine you are observing a spacecraft moving in a circular orbit of radius 128,000 km around a distant planet. You happen to be located in the plane of the spacecraft 's orbit. You find that the spacecraft 's radio signal varies periodically in wavelength between...- Linuxkid

Calculus Textbook for Home Education Student
Thanks for the replies guys,I practiced some matrices and concepts in Linear Algebra, but only briefly as part of precalculus. But as clarified above, shouldn't be a problem with Calculus 4th edition.- Linuxkid

Calculus Textbook for Home Education Student
Hello all, I'm considering Calculus 4th edition from M. Spivak for my Senior year Calculus book along with George Simmons Calculus with Analytic Geometry for a joint 18.01 MIT OCW and self-study curriculum. I understand that his book involves quite some rigor and ruthless problems, but...- Linuxkid

Caffeine Soap; does it really work?
Evening all, I've been curious about these caffeine soaps lately and thought that this would be the place to discuss about it. My almost-favorite website United Nuclear claims: "As it turns out, our good old friend Caffeine reaches the bloodstream faster through skin absorption... -

Graduate Can a Laser Accelerate Stationary Electrons in an Electron-Photon Accelerator?
I see, thanks for the insight. The proposal is to hold free electrons with a quadrupole magnet, and fire a laser to accelerate them into a phosphorous screen. Basically anyway.- Linuxkid

Graduate Can a Laser Accelerate Stationary Electrons in an Electron-Photon Accelerator?
I wanted to ask if it was possible to use a high output laser, and for the photons to transfer their momentum to stationary Electrons, and propel them? I found an article about laser particle accelerators, and SLAC was/is working one. They claimed also that phase velocity was an issue. But since...- Linuxkid

Graduate How can I make a detailed hypothesis for my particle accelerator project?
I,m trying to put together all the complexities of making a small Linear Electron collider. Basically it's two crt electron guns on each end of an polycarbonate tube with quadrupole magnet's for focusing. I have a decent idea of the EMR dangers involved. But since I could keep it below a...
