What Are Good Electives To Take During Undergrad? (applied mathematics)
I have 24 more upper division math courses to complete over 3 more semesters. I want to go full time which means I need to at least take 12 units (4 classes) of whatever I want. As someone who doesn't know what they want to do with an applied mathematics degree after I graduate, what sort of...- Magnawolf

Engineering Solving Basic Circuit Problem: Find Voltage Across 10 Ohm Resistor
Here's the solution to the problem. It looks like the book did source transformation, which I didn't think was fair because this problem is before source transformation. I know nodal analysis and mesh but I thought it was possible to do without them. I thought you could just find the R-total...- Magnawolf

Simple Nodal Analysis Problem Solution and Explanation
Homework Statement Homework Equations KVL and KCL The Attempt at a Solution Let V = V1 and the Voltage across the 2 ohm resistor be V2 just for reference. Step 1: KCL @ Supernode: V1/3 + V2/2 + 21/4 + V3/6 = 0 I think my problem is here somewhere. Does V3 = V2 because...- Magnawolf

Engineering Redrawing a Circuit: Tips & Tricks for Power Sources
I'm trying to study the basics right now lol. I understand I1 = 6, because the voltage is 24 V and the resistor is 4. What throws me off is the -8V on the other side. How does it behave in the circuit? I2 is apparently 16A. Is it because the voltage through the resistor is 32V? Now what...- Magnawolf

Engineering Redrawing a Circuit: Tips & Tricks for Power Sources
Homework Statement Homework Equations I just need help redrawing the circuit The Attempt at a Solution I don't understand how to draw the power sources in correctly. I'm getting mixed on on whether they're in series or parallel with the resistors and such. Any tips would be appreciated.- Magnawolf

Finding Polar Equation for hyperbola with Graph xy=16
Homework Statement Find a polar equation with the graph as xy=16 Homework Equations r = ed/(1+- cos\theta)? I'm not really sure at all. The Attempt at a Solution I also tried using x = rcos\theta and y = r sin\theta but I can't get anything. I know it's a hyperbola.- Magnawolf

Finding the Power Series of f'(x) from f(x) = x^2cos(2x)
When you say differentiate under the sum, do you mean differentiate each term in the sequence or do you mean you can actually take the derivative of the series equation? I tried googling and checking my textbook and I don't know how to take a derivative of a series in equation form, with the n's...- Magnawolf
