Any advice about integration appreciated.
practice them over and over. Start at your current skill level and do as many as you can, then move on to the next technique and repeat. I used this site a lot. http://archives.math.utk.edu/visual.calculus/- math-chick_41

Advice for a Math Major that wants to teach
Hi there, that book seems fine to me if you want to self study basic analysis, but you should also pick up Principles of Mathematical Analysis by Rudin and get familar with that material as well. It covers most of the same stuff that the other book does, but Rudin is the standard for analysis...- math-chick_41

Programs What can you do with a Math major? What does a mathematician do?
at the undergrad level I was told the oppurtunities are similar for pure math and applied math majors. At my school the applied math students take numerical methods and math models while the pure math students take topology and abstract algebra, and that is basically the only differences in...- math-chick_41

Question about pursuing mathematics
It is hard to tell how far you can go in math if you have only had calc 3. You should continue your business stuff and take a math class along with it. So if you are in calc 3 now, take differential equations and linear algebra next and if you still like math go higher. Just a warning though...- math-chick_41

Graduate Sylow first thm and normal subgroups
I just finished learning about Sylow theorems and I have a quick question and was wondering if someone could help me see something. In this handout I have from a section on Sylow it gives a lemma to the first theorem and it says; Suppose p is prime and |G| = p^n then G has normal subgroups...- math-chick_41

Is U(x,y) = max { |x1-y1|, |x2-y2|} a Valid Metric?
I need help on how to show something is a metric. U: R2 x R2 ----> R where U(x,y) = max { |x1-y1|,|x2-y2|} I can do all the properties except for the dreaded triangle inequality property. help me out please, thanks- math-chick_41

it expands to abab , but how come (ab)^-1 = (b^-1)(a^-1)?- math-chick_41

Reducible polynomials over Zp.
here is what I have, x^2+ax+b over Zp is reducible if we can factor it into (x-s)(x-t) where s,t are in Zp. if s=t then there are p choices for s,t so there are p reducible polynomial. if s is not t then there are p choices for s and p-1 for t and when you switch s and t you get the same...- math-chick_41
