What hand tools do physicists commonly use in the laboratory?

It's not uncommon in workshops to keep calipers in a mahogany case to prevent the tool from being damaged or losing calibration. But my question was more broad. I meant to ask what common hand tools that are usually seen in workshops are used by physicists, if any?

What hand tools do physicists commonly use in the laboratory?

I came across an article about a particle physicist who made a custom case for his calipers, radius gauges, and screw pitch gauges. The project, available here, turned out nice. The article had me wondering, do physicists rely on calipers that much in the laboratory? I'm curious, what other hand...

Physics Behind Cutting Brick/Stone With Chisels?

Can someone please explain the physics of how a cold/masonry chisel used to score a brick cuts the prick along a more or less even line without actually "cutting"?

    Can coatings prevent sublimation?

What could be used as a sacrificial coating for iron or steel?

    Can coatings prevent sublimation?

Question for materials scientists: All solids evaporate (or sublimate) over some time, even steel. Could the sublimation of steel over time be prevented or slowed with a coating? EDIT: Do diamonds themselves sublimate in a vacuum?

    Non-hydrocarbon based instrument lubricants

    How does metal-on-metal not wear?

    Non-hydrocarbon based instrument lubricants

You're not reading what I said, which was, "but I also came across the fact that many of these lubricants do not have adequate film strength for metal on metal contact." The question is, while there are other lubricants, the information I have come across said many of these lubricants are not...

    Non-hydrocarbon based instrument lubricants

I did, but I also came across the fact that many of these lubricants do not have adequate film strength for metal on metal contact. So I asked the question.

    Non-hydrocarbon based instrument lubricants

Are there any non-hydrocarbon based lubricants that can be used on instruments like micrometer threads? I know silicone grease exists, but it doesn't have the film strength to protect the metal. Are hydrocarbons the only game in town?

    I Closing the Superdeterminism Loophole?

Thank you! Are there any other reasons most physicists reject superdeterminism?

    I Closing the Superdeterminism Loophole?

This paper claims that the major superdeterminism loophole in Bell's theroem is closed, because "a local hidden variable theory consistent with relativity requires that relativistically non-invariant relations such as the time order of spacelike separated events have no physical significance...

Is a Single-Wheel Track Drive Effective for a Ford Model A Snowmobile?

Ah, okay! Thanks. I didn't think it could be done with one wheel.

Is a Single-Wheel Track Drive Effective for a Ford Model A Snowmobile?

Thank you for the picture! Here's what I do not understand (forgive me for sounding ignorant!) - the track wraps around the tire like a chain, but is its tread pattern anything resembling a track - because it still looks circular.

I Informational Interpretation of quantum mechanics?

I heard something today about the "informational interpretation" of quantum mechanics and a phrase used was "it from bit." Is there actually such a thing? What does it mean, and how is it distinguished from other interpretations like MWI or Copenhagen?
