Find the areas of the regions whose boundaries are given
And for the last problem, you would have two different enclosed areas. One would be between -1 and 0 and the other between 0 and 3. This means you would have to set up 2 different equations and find the sum of the areas. HINT: The equations are very similar just siwtched in order.- moemoney

Attatchment depicts a truck which has a centre of mass C
For there to be a maximum acceleration, doesn't there have to be a maximum \SigmaFx value? Meaning, shouldn't \SigmaFx not be 0?- moemoney

Solving Hard Limits: Find the Limits or Say Why They Don't Exist
For part a), you would have two cases as you stated above. The (x-2) term on the top and bottom should "cancel" each other out leaving you with an exact value. You must check if the limit approaching from the right matches the limit approaching from the left to see if the limit exists. You're...- moemoney

Engineering (Electrical) Engineering and Career Fields
Hi, I just finished my first year of engineering and I am about to enter my second year. I decided to go into electrical engineering because it seems like it has a very broad range of fields to enter in. Now I am also extremely interested in physics in almost all departments mainly QM...- moemoney

Engineering Co-Op programs are they worth it?
I am currently a co-op student working as a mechanical engineer. I do designs for automated equipment using 3D parametric programs. This is my first co-op term btw (just completed my first year of engineering). I serisously do recommend co-op. The only problem with co-op is that you can't...- moemoney

Related Rates (rectangular prism)
carlodelmundo's is correct and is far simpler. You just have to remember the multiplication identity for taking derivatives of the product of 3 variables. This will save you time rather than having to expand everything out. Y = abc ==> Y' = a'bc + ab'c + abc' if I remember correctly.- moemoney

How to find the limits of integration for a metal ring drilled through a sphere?
In this case, take the center corss section of the sphere and look at the top half of it. It will look like a semi-circle with radius 5 correct? (y = sqrt(25-x^2)) Now the sphere was drilled and the resulting hole has a radius of 3. So now the bottom half of the semi-circle is now removed...- moemoney

Related Rates (rectangular prism)
Aren't you trying to find the volume when t = 0? So wouldn't that mean the volume is changing at a rate of 63600 cm^3/min? (Assuming your calculations are correct)- moemoney

How High Can a Flea Jump Using Resilin Energy?
You're on the right track. You have F = kx. Work is force over a distance right? So if you find the integral of F = kx over the interval [0,.10], you can find the enegry stored in the flea's coked legs as Doc Al stated above. F = kx => W = 1/2kx^2- moemoney

Discover the Intervals of a Quadratic Function | Find Solutions and Graph
For the inequality | -8x - 2| = 10, its best to divide it into 2 cases; for all x values such that -8x - 2 > 0 (a) and all x values such that -8x - 2 < 0 (b). This step eliminates the use of absolute value functions. For all x (a), the absolute value function would disappear (because -8x - 2...- moemoney

Can the value of a be found for this limit problem?
a = 3, b = a, c = (a+3). Substitute these values into the quadratic formula and let it equal to -2 (so we could have a 0/0 limit). This will give you a value for a for which the limit will exist as x approaches -2. (I tested it and it works).- moemoney

Can the value of a be found for this limit problem?
I would use the quadratic formula to find the value of 'a' when one of the roots is -2. That way you can have a 0/0 limit as stated above.- moemoney

Find the acceleration of blocks - Friction problem
Correct me if I am wrong guys. Wouldn't you treat this problem into different cases? I would split this problem into 3 different cases; A system as a whole, the first and second block as one object and the second and third block as one object. From what I see, the second and third block...- moemoney
