Graduate Cant understand similar proof Quantum numbers from PDE (pdf attachment)
I believe that this is similar to the proof of Schrödinger equation to obtain quantum numbers, however i cannot seem to understand the relationship between n, l and m: I have attached a pdf file on partial differential equations and on page 5, i cannot seem to understand why it is +n^2 and...- mohsin031211

Graduate Partial differential equations , rearranging and spotting
I have been given an equation : r^2 ( d^2R/dr^2) + 2r(dR/dr) - lambda*R = 0 It says to assume R~ r^β Then i can't seem to spot how from that information we can produce this equation: β(β − 1) rβ + 2β rβ − λ rβ = 0 Any help would be appreciated, thanks.- mohsin031211

Partial differentiaton question, how to distinguish between u and f (u )
Thankyou very much but i still cannot understand how that may lead to the form which the question wants us to show, thanks.- mohsin031211

Partial differentiaton question, how to distinguish between u and f (u )
Homework Statement Partial differentiation question V=xf(u) and u=y/x, show that x^2. d2v/dx2 + 2xy. d2v/dxdy + y^2. d2V/dy2 = 0 Is u the same as f(u) Homework Equations V=xf(u) and u=y/x The Attempt at a Solution do you just differentiate the product of x.y/x- mohsin031211

Determinism: Can Scientific Explanations Explain Human Behaviour?
Well, ryan m b i see your point but proving a philosophical point of view is non sense, its just thoughts based on a possible evidence which are contained within your own consciousness. If evidence can be provided with 100% certainty for a philosophical idea , then explain metaphysics to me. Thanks- mohsin031211

Determinism: Can Scientific Explanations Explain Human Behaviour?
The creature concept is just how you make it out to be, It doesn't have to be a 'being' to be defined as God.- mohsin031211

Determinism: Can Scientific Explanations Explain Human Behaviour?
Firstly he did not use the word God as nature => watch BBC horizon, einsteins unfinished symphony. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Einstein's_religious_views , also, i am not talking supernatural but i am just referring to God as infinite and something we cannot comprehend, as i said it is...- mohsin031211

Determinism: Can Scientific Explanations Explain Human Behaviour?
What do you guys think of this view? Majority => the way nature has been perceived by most is deterministic. Determinism is how one perceives the universe to follow simplistic and logical laws . For example, the moon orbiting the Earth at an instant: If one knows the Newtonian equations, any...- mohsin031211
