Need switchable mp3/audio player (repost)
I think I posted this to the wrong thread before so will need to remove it from the Engineering one. I'm not sure what it's called, but I need an mp3 or audio player that will allow me to select which track I want to play with the push of a few simultaneous buttons. The tracks will be...- nanoWatt

High School Why I can burn a paper with magnifying glass and sun?
It's a process called refraction. Glass, and other materials with a certain index of refraction will bend light. The light is slowed and bends. The curvature adds to this. -

High School Solving Series Questions: 1+2+3...+n & 1^2+2^2+3^2...+n^2+n^3
I actually had found that formula on my own before I realized it was already a famous formula. I called it: a number, times one half the number, plus one half the number. I think I was about 10 or 12 when I thought I had discovered something I termed the "preconsecutive". -

Constructing a Wall Imaging Device
Actually, it won't be in the ground, as I have access to both sides of the wall. Just something to measure the sound intensity as it comes through in different points, and give that an image of sorts. I know it exists, but I'm not sure what it's called, or how to build it.- nanoWatt

Constructing a Wall Imaging Device
I was wondering if it was possible to construct a certain device. There would be a speaker on one side of a wall generating a certain frequency, and on the other side a receiver that would give an image of what was in the wall, such as cabling, studs, etc. I'm sure the technology exists, but I...- nanoWatt

What is the Method for Finding a Cubic Function with Specific Zeros?
Thanks to both of you. Actually, before that was assigned to us, I went through some of the problems on my own, and tried that one. I asked the teacher about it, and she didn't seem to know how to do it. Then she assigned it to us that evening. It was the only problem in this week's homework...- nanoWatt

What is the Method for Finding a Cubic Function with Specific Zeros?
Homework Statement From James Stewart's Essential Calculus Early Trancendentals, p.21 #5. Find an expression for a cubic function f if f(1)=6 and f(-1)=f(0)=f(2)=0 Homework Equations Used zeros of the function. The Attempt at a Solution I understand that the values of x...- nanoWatt

Undergrad How to Find Inverse of a Matrix
Hi, I'm taking a Calculus I class, so they won't be going into Matrices very much. That's more for Linear Algebra. I'm going through an E&M book now (as a refresher from my Physics days of 7 years ago). This book assumes knowledge in getting the inverse of a matrix. Using this site, I...- nanoWatt

Graduate The physics of falling and landing
There is no way these are correct. The average eye-blink is around 250ms (Google "blink your eye milliseconds") The time to land, bend your knees, and absorb the impact would be around this time. Your largest time of 112us is the time it takes for a 1200 m/s (2600mph) bullet to go about 5... -
