Graduate The Cause of the Big Bang: Proven Theories
This is one of those places where science enters the faith realm, which is why it's fun to talk about. Really, all the ideas and theories place a 'creator' as the initial cause. I've read some really 'fluffy' papers where the author was going with some kind of eternal grouping of energy that... -

Gorillas should be America's professional football players
Not a lot of athletes at this forum it seems. I'm an athlete and I like physics, those with an 'athlete-bashing' attitude are only proving your own ignorance of the issue.- Oblio

Physics What Are Some Field Work Careers in Physics?
Hey everybody, I've been doing a little research, looking for jobs in physics with field work (or even are only field work / outdoors work). The only thing I've come across so far is Marine and ocean Physics. Anyone else know of others? Thanks!- Oblio

Are there microprocessors that support Linux or Windows for controlling lights?
Hey all, I have a few questions concerning computers for a project I'm working on... I know a significant amount of electronics but not so much on the computer end... Anyways, say I wanted the simple application of controling a light (an LED for example) with my computer - what's the...- Oblio

Two electrical Problems I'm stuck on
hey guys, I'm not sure how to start these off. Can someone give me a hint? I'm not sure how else to show these (they have circuit pictures). The questions are numbers 18 & 24 here http://www.physics.brocku.ca/Courses/2P31/DH-Asst1.pdf . thanks in advance :)- Oblio

Digital Electronics Project - Sound detection
it seems, not many inputs would be able to remain perfectly steady... perhaps something like a schmidt trigger would allow intant digitization? (pretty sure I am making up words lol)- Oblio

Digital Electronics Project - Sound detection
By 'sample and hold' I assume you mean the digitized wave? I was wondering if I might be able to avoid that whole process by taking values of the wave at specific times... 'what is the value... NOW... NOW... and then comparing numeric values'. ... and I don't know what an anti-alias...- Oblio

Digital Electronics Project - Sound detection
Greetings all, I thought I'd post my idea and plan for my digital electronics project here to see if I can get any tips or meet people who may have some expertise on this subject... The basic idea is a 'lock' that is opened by the correct series of input notes. Using a PIC, what I'm...- Oblio

How Do I Solve Part B of the Lennard-Jones Potential Problem?
I'm getting the ridiculous value of : r = \sqrt[6]{\frac{-12B}{6A}} by deriving the two quotients, allowing A' and B' to cancel in the process (constants) cancelling out the high denominators as much as possible... etc..- Oblio

How Do I Solve Part B of the Lennard-Jones Potential Problem?
I'm really stuck on b.) of this question. http://www.physics.brocku.ca/Courses/2P20/problems/prob_lenardjones.pdf I think I can use T = E - U, and solve for v from within T and integrate for x... but what do I do with E?- Oblio

Graduate Vector product - operator's a vector?
this post can probably be disregarded unless people with a classical mechanics context can answer my question, and not a purely mathematical one; which would probably mean very little to me.- Oblio
