Graduate Why Do We Need Strings in String Theory?
Well as to "what are the strings made of?" they are made of pure energy I believe and as to "why strings?" that's just the fundamental object that came out of the equations when string theory was born.- p_branes

Undergrad Particle Accelerators: Physics Contributions & Benefits
We can find new particles that can sometimes answer questions or at Cern they contain antimatter particles which are used in PET scanners. There are probably many uses I think they are just not obvious ones.- p_branes

What role plays chemistry in a physics career
"Modern physics involves the two important 20th century theories : Quantum mechanics and Relativity" In a sense relativistic mechanics is a classical theory as it does not include the uncertainty relations.- p_branes

Graduate Does String theory resolve the information paradox?
When a black hole "evaporates" there isn't an explosion. I don't know what string theory predicts about loss of info through a black hole but something that i came across was that you can think there are virtual particle pairs near the event horizon of a black hole and so normally these virtual...- p_branes
