Difficult vector word problem final step
omg haha sorry. Typing error. The second one was supposed to be sin. I do that sometimes in my homework too :S. The x and y comp's of the resultant vector when the boat starts off in a direction theta are Rx = 8cos(θ) Ry = 8sin(θ) + 5 wait...I think I understand...- personguything

Vector addition word problem question
I don't understand... Normally when I do this exact series of equations, I get an angle that I can just use as a normal angle... What is the difference? How am I supposed to know it means "south of west"?- personguything

Vector addition word problem question
I solved a word problem correctly...But I'm a little confused about what my answer means, I guess I'm having trouble understanding how they got the meaning of the numbers. My question is about step (b). Problem: The velocity of an aircraft is 200 km/hr due west. A northwest wind of 50 km/hr is...- personguything

Adding vectors with the component method
Thank you! I 100% missed the "35" mistake haha. The cos/sin switch was on purpose, something about it being below the x-axis...Anyway, I worked through it all visually and mathematically and figured it out. I appreciate it!- personguything

Adding vectors with the component method
Hi! I know this is pretty basic... I'm teaching myself from a textbook, and I got a different answer from the book...It doesn't have the problem worked out, just the answer. I just need to figure out what mistake I made. Homework Statement Find the resultant of the following forces: (a) 30N...- personguything
