Graduate Can Matter Exist in the Same Spacetime Position?
I think we can assume that he means matter existing in the same spacetime as other matter, that is to say finding a "double particle". Think of the consequences of such an event. Not compressing matter so much as making it disappear and saying it is now in the position of another, identical...- PipBoy

Graduate Quantum Tunneling for particles of equal energies but different masses
>>equal energies >>different masses consider, a larger (higher mass) particle with the same energy as a smaller particle. The Smaller particle has a great deal more uncertainty at this level, as it's wavefunction is much, much larger than the Larger particle's. Therefore, if it exists at...- PipBoy

Recommended Nanotechnology Reading for Sixth Form Students | Expert Suggestions
Hi all, Just wondering if any of you can recommend some further reading for a Sixth Form student who has just finished the (aptly named) "Nanotechnology for Dummies"? Found it too off subject as far as the scientific processes were concerned and too focussed on the business/industry side. Do... -

Graduate Particles & Antiparticles: What is the Deal with Photons?
I forget, is it because the Photons travel back in time, so to speak, that we observe them to be their own anti-particles or am I getting this horribly confused with Electrons?- PipBoy

Undergrad Elementary Questions on Quantum Physics for 15-18 Year Olds
Hi, I'm currently writting an article for people my age (15-18) about Quantum Physics, it's complexity, it's vast uncertainty and it's applications. However, being only young and just halfway through John Gribbin's 'In Search of Schrödinger's Cat', there are several points I would like to raise...- PipBoy

May I interject with the suggestion that we simply force people to divide by Zero?- PipBoy

Graduate Unstoppable Force, Immovable Object
I don't really know much about Quantum Physics, but having just read an article about Quantum Tunneling, would this not mean that the force would simply go through the immovable object, assuming that it being unstoppable provides the atoms with sufficent energy to break the electronic barrriers...- PipBoy

Undergrad Nerd Rage: Iron Man 2 and Scientific Advances
Has anyone seen the part of Iron Man two where they combine the major scientific advances of the past centruy into a single scene where he makes a new element? For those who haven't, I will summarise; - He builds a particle accelerator in his front room showing no evidence of large...- PipBoy

Graduate Can Quantum Physics be weaponized?
Thats true...although I don't think we have suitable power soures for weaponized (assuming weaponized means high intensity) lasers just yet. Possibly with fusion power? On the subject...Light Sabers, possible or impossible?- PipBoy

Graduate Can Quantum Physics be weaponized?
Beyond the Nuclear Bomb, Fission Bomb I should say, I suppose the future of Fusion or the possibilities that Cold Fusion bings along could also become weaponised in the same way.- PipBoy

Graduate Inverse Beta Decay: Can Free Protons Change to Neutrons?
I'm something of a novice at particle Physics; can someone explain to me the conditions and instance of neutrino production? I think they're neutral particles with no mass and near-light speed but I'm not sure...The wikipedia article seems to be somehwat ambiguous on this topic.- PipBoy

Graduate Electron-positron annihilation as an energy source?
On the subject...in what way could Gamma rays be used as an energy source. Obviously I know they're high frequency electromagnetic waves, but in what way could energy be retrieved from them? I can't get the idea of using them as a heat source out of my head.- PipBoy

Of course that makes more sense, but I was still discussing the use of antimatter as a weapon. Fission>Annhilation always.- PipBoy
