Wahey! I'm doing a PhD in engineering!
Suckers...
Actually, going from an engineering/comp.sci post doc to a permanant position in a university (my one at least) is pretty hard to get too. There are post-docs in my department who finished their PhD 4/5 years ago that are not anywhere near...
Hi,
Yeah, I had looked at VLC, and I thought it was going to be a great solution. Unfortunately when I loaded it onto my PDA and tried to play a file, the audio played with no video. At first I though it might be because it was MPEG-4 video, but when I played an MPEG-1 video, or an AVI, the...
Try this: http://www.copernicus.org/guidelines/GSWLaTeX.pdf
The first ten pages (less even) show you how to write a small latex file, and then it goes into equations and symbols etc.
PS
Most people I know (including myself) use LaTeX, it really is a great way to write papers.
Basically it takes away all of the formatting and does it for you, so you won't ever have to move images or tables around.
The only minor quibbles I have is that it can be awkward at first to put tables...
Hi All,
I need to stream some video to a PDA (running windows CE). At the moment the video is in MPEG-4 format, and I could stream this using the darwin server, but I don't know of any player that is capable of playing a streaming MPEG-4 file. So, I don't mind changing the video format to a...
To center an image just use the \centering command. e.g.:
\begin{figure}
\centering
\includegraphics[scale = X]{ImageName}
\caption{sdsd}
\end{figure}
PS
Why don't you try and do a sports game?
I know next to nothing about game creation, but I'd imagine its a lot more straightforward to create a sports sim than a large RPG or something.
I'd say a soccer/american football/basketball game would be hard, but how about a...
Hey all,
I'm not new to programming, but I feel like I need to gain more information about different languages and their uses.
Most of the programming I have done has been in C or C++ (although I don't really use much of the oop stuff in C++). If I ever neeeded an interface, I generally...
Texniccenter is pretty good. makes it very easy if you are managing a large number of files (chapters in a thesis etc). Also, supports the use of bibtex for making bibliographies etc.
