Undergrad Precise (Or Epsilon-Delta) Definition of a Limit
Thank you very much for all the replies! They even helped me understand parts of the definition I thought I had already comprehended! But I think I need to give myself some more time to digest the content of the responses; I am still having a hard time convincing myself of some things... -

Undergrad Precise (Or Epsilon-Delta) Definition of a Limit
Hello guys! I am trying to get a solid grasp of the Precise Definition of a Limit. I am having a particular hard time linking the intuition of the limit I developed a while ago to the Epsilon-Delta definition. I understand the basics: a limit exists/is only true if and only if for every... -

Undergrad Differentiation: the prime notation
Thank you for the prompt reply! One of the reasons I asked this was to try and make sure I was translating the chain rule from prime to Leibniz notation correctly. If the term in brackets indicated what we are differentiating to, it would be pretty easy. If that is not the case, I have a hard... -

Undergrad Differentiation: the prime notation
Hi, I have been using, for the most part, the prime notation when I want to indicate differentiation. As off recently, I have gained more insight into Leibniz's notation. This triggered the following question: how does the prime notation indicate what we are differentiating with respect to? I... -

Cubic Regression: Exponential Growth & Leveling Off
This is what my assignment says: What types of function could model the behavior of the graph and a bit later: Analytically develop one model function that fits the data points on your graph Furthermore, I am restricting the domain of my graph too.- ProPM

Cubic Regression: Exponential Growth & Leveling Off
Yes, a Logistic is my next step, but this function here: -0.0056755x^3+0.4186x^2+7.35529x+555.2542 Seems to me like it's leveling off towards the end, or is that impossible? It looks like it is possible from google images but you are probably a more trustworthy source - ProPM

Cubic Regression: Exponential Growth & Leveling Off
Hi, I have the following population figures for a five year interval: 554.8, 609, 657.5, 729.2, 830.7, 927.8, 998.9, 1070, 1155.3, 1220.5 The graph has an exponential growth from the first value to the fourth value and then the population starts to decay. I found that a Cubic...- ProPM

Simple Harmonic Motion - Acceleration and Time Period
Sorry, I couldn't follow very well the beginning. But, for the same force with a bigger mass the acceleration will decrease. So, from the equation, either omega must decrease (frequency decreases/time period increases) or the displacement will decrease... How do I know which of these will happen?- ProPM

Simple Harmonic Motion - Acceleration and Time Period
Hi, I am a bit confused regarding the relation between the acceleration and time period in simple harmonic motion. This questions asks what would be one change to the motion of a car's wing mirror in case the glass was switched for a heavier one. I don't understand for example, how would...- ProPM

Modelling an Exponential Curve
Hi guys, I need to model a curve and I am trying to come up with an exponential equation. I have several points I can work with and this is what I tried so far. (I want to know if this is the correct method or if there is a more precise way to go about this) I am working on something of the...- ProPM

Measuring Efficiency of Fuels with Physics, Chemistry and Biology
Hi, I am working on this project that has to involve physics, chemistry and biology. The chemists in my group will be performing an experiment to measure the enthalpy of combustion of three different fuels: alcohol, diesel and petrol. My task as a physicist is to, using their results...- ProPM

Is the Velocity Equation for SHM Correctly Derived Without Calculus?
Hi  I am a bit lost with the equations for velocity: I don't know Calculus yet, so my teacher just gave me the equation: -wx0cos(wt) (w being omega) He then said: v0 = wx0 and therefore, concluded: -v0cos(wt) and then for when the displacement is maximum at time = 0: v0cos(wt) Is...- ProPM

Why Does P * V Not Always Equal 1 in Gas Laws?
