Would You Rather.... Science Edition
The TARDIS(assuming it is a kind of time machine) (If sci-fi questions are allowed if not i'll just post a new one) if you could ride in a time machine 1.Would you go to the past? or 2.would you go to the future? WHY?- rama

Conditional identity consisting of AP and GP
Homework Statement x,y,z are three terms in GP and a,b,c are three terms in AP prove that (xb÷xc)(yc÷ya)(za÷zb)=1Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution (xb-c)(yc-a)(za-b) since x y z are in GP xb-c÷yc-a=yc-a÷za-b (xb- c)(za-b)=yc-a(yc-a)- rama

Proving a=d: Conditional Identity
1. The pratement, all variables and given/known data If a =1÷(1-b) ,b=1÷(1-c),c=1÷(1-d) prove that a=d Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution a=1÷(1-b) a-1÷(1-b)=0 {a(1-b)-1)}÷1-b=0 a-ab-1=0 a-ab=1 similarly b-bc=1 c-cd=1 could any of you please give a hint, this was...- rama

Undergrad Understanding the Derivation of the Quadratic Formula
there is another method developed by sridhara(870-930) ax2+bx+c=0 multiply both side by 4a 4a2x2+4abx+4ac=0 transposing 4ac 4a2x2+4abx=-4ac add b2 to both sides 4a2x2+4abx+b2=-4ac+b2 then (2ax+b)2=b2-4ac 2ax+b=√b2-4ac 2ax=-b(plus or minus)√(b2-4ac) x=(-b(plus or minus)√(b2-4ac))/2a i don't know... -

High School Quadratic equation - how to understand the impact of the middle term?
the middle term has no effect on shape of parabola, while graphing x^2+10x+24=0 x^2=-10x-24 y=x^2 and y=-10x-24 middle term plays a role in where the linear equation cuts the parabola and not on the shape of the parabola- rama

High School Extremely easy math, but need expression
like Mark44 said this is an arithmetic progression Here the difference between two terms(of the sequence) is equal Tn=a+(n-1)d where a is the first term and d is the difference between two terms(d=T2-T1) -

High School Can someone prove this basic identity?
same as what mentallic said, the n(and root n) gets canceled and you are left with the original number lhs=rhs- rama

Undergrad Irrational^rational = rational
if the order of the root is say x, and the power you raise are multiples of x , then it becomes a rational number(or if the power is 0) example:√2^4=4- rama
